Sundays discussion group – last night – was really rich. Everyone on the call beautifully held a space together for the conversation to wander and explore a range of themes. As a group we came from professional practices of performing and writing music, teaching within the performing arts, performing dance and theatre. We also ranged from those in their late 20s to those in their late 50s, and lastly people joined from around the time zones of the world(!) – Singapore, South Africa, USA, and UK… We drew on these varied careers and perspectives to have an inspired talk that ranged from epistemological questions, ‘discussing what knowledge is’ to Ethical questions ‘the right to see ourselves’ to pedagogical questions ‘the use of film in the arts classroom.’ I am really looking forward to reading everyone’s post. Please put a brief overview of the conversation and a link to your post in the comments below.

It was a very varied conversation! I had quite a few thoughts reflecting on the chat we had and further to to that, some experiences that highlight ethical issues in our community.

DeleteThe discussion group on Sunday was such a great opportunity to hear so many different thoughts and standings on the vast areas that were covered. By sharing our experiences we can reflect further on our own actions and knowledge which in turn may possibly instill a better/different direction to how we see or do things.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI'm new to the subject of ethics so I was listening intently to that part of the discussion on Sunday. I'm more old fashioned and don't use video a lot. I think as long as the intention behind the use of videos is right and permission has been given it can be a great educational tool.
In my blog I spoke more about the information, learning and knowledge part of the discussion. Here is the link:
