MAPP discussion group

We had a MAPP discussion group on Sunday. AM and PM.
PM was particularly big but quiet.

Many people had some great points they are blogging about - see addresses to posts in comments below. I thought about the generosity of being available in a discussion. It is similar to being a dance class when you step forward and stand at the front in order to engage and learn even if you don't feel confidence with the sequence. Many of us are used to doing this. The quiet-ness made us wonder if once a month is to big a gap between discussions, not giving people enough opportunity to exercise their voice. So, for the rest of this term we are going to pilot having a discussion every two-weeks. That means we are adding a Skype discussion on November 18th 9am or 8pm

Please comment below to attend, also to comment and discuss from Sunday.

  4. Hello everyone! I would love a second discussion group a month, there is so much to talk about and sharing helps a lot. Maybe next Sunday Skype we could get to the topic of Dance Leadership. I would love to hear about everyone else’s expertise on the topic and get recommendations for my literary review on this topic.

This is my blog post from last session: http://marianelladesanti.blogspot.com/2018/11/the-embodiment-of-dance.html?m=1

For next session I would love to join 8pm on the 18th.

    Thank you!

  5. Hi, thanks Adesola for arranging this more regular slot for chatting with other MAPPers. I think it is important to connect, it gives us a feeling of community outside the intense study we are involved with at the moment. It is amazing how connected you feel with other dancers/teachers/choreographers and how much we have in common, despite not knowing each other. I have posted on http://jvsyd.blogspot.com the blogs are a bit weird and random but that's how it is. Thank you.

  7. Hi, just stumbled across this video, which I found quite interesting, talking about dance as a way of knowing, a little bit related, to what we have been discussing:

    1. Agata hi! Thank you very, very much for sharing this interview. I found it very easy to follow and thought provoking. I have listened to it twice already. :)
I have started to reflect on many ideas exposed, starting with "human consciousness is dance" in reference to our reflection and understanding of life and delivering such understanding in performance.

  9. Hi! I posted on my blog for the last session: https://elizabethlintzerakou.blogspot.com/2018/11/sunday-skype-meeting-on-sunday-i.html
It is great that another meeting is arranged. I think that it will be very helpful as we will have the chance to discuss about the different themes we are enaged with. As everyone comes from a different module, he/she has different needs and extra meetings will give us the chance to share our ideas and thoughts.

  14. I'm just about to leave and will be gone until well into the night UK time, so I'm just going to post my definition of analysis here, because I won't get a chance to see the new blog post about this morning's discussion until too late.

Analysis: the process of transforming data through translation and interpretation into something communicable and future-applicable, which is necessarily affected and/or changed by the participants, researcher, and types of data collected.

Great talking to everyone this morning!
