A thought for Module two...

Imagine you cannot use interviews as a method.
What other ways of gathering information during your inquiry are there than just asking someone else (to tell you the answer!!!!!!). People tend towards interviews as a go-to for qualitative research like ours but an interview is not the only or best way. Just asking someone else what they think is not enough if you have not thought about what you are going to do with what they say. For a lot of inquires this is a matter of why would they know (what you should think) any more than you already do?

We looked at other methods of gathering data - looking at journals, web-sites, specialist libraries, collections in museums and galleries, and archives of work.

  1. I typed 'statues of dancers' and then 'Dance art' into Google images. What I found was extremely interesting and I'd like to add how dance/dancers are represented in art to my module 3 project (from the viewpoint of inclusivity and disability dance).

  2. Yes, interesting. Good idea. I made a dance and film out of the images that appeared on Google when I typed 'Black girl'. It is also interesting how they change from week to week. I wonder if the news effects what appears because of the number of people looking at an image.

  3. Thanks. Thinking creatively? How do we best do that? Sitting and talking? Or upping and doing! My research design is drawing on Art expression in many mediums also and information is gathering speed from a variety of unusual sources.
